Week 7 Done

Week 7 Done

Hi guys,

Thanks for all the support so far! Can’t believe week 7 of the DTS done.

Last Sunday we visited the same Samoan church as last week, and once again the service was really good. David, one of our students, went up on stage and gave an awesome testimony.

On Monday we spent lecture time writing down our testimonies and then a few of us, including myself, got to give our testimony in front of the class. I’m not a fan of public speaking, so giving my testimony was a bit challenging, but I feel it went well.

This week, for lectures, we had Barry Gaulke talking to us on the Holy Spirit. I’d definitely consider this week to have been one of the best weeks of the whole DTS so far.

We spent the week learning about what the Holy Spirit is, and why we need it in our lives. The Holy Spirit is a helper to us. It can help us be bold when we speak, it can give us the right things to say when praying for someone and can even give guide us in our daily lives. One thing we were told to remember is that throughout the Bible there are loads of times the Holy Spirit moved. We were told to remember that the same Holy Spirit is still available to us and in some ways is easier to gain.

In Luke 4:18, after Jesus returned from the wilderness he described what the Spirit should be used for.

“The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favour.” – Luke 4:18

We also spoke about the gifts of the Spirit. We went through each gift and learned about what it is and how it can be used. An important thing to remember about these gifts is that they should always be used with love.

On the Friday we had an awesome day. We spent basically the whole lecture time just praying for each other and practicing some of the gifts. I received an amazing prophecy from Barry and then 2 of the students had the same prophecy. The Holy Spirit was really moving during those hours of prayer!
